Keith Urban's 'Get Closer' Track Listing

Just under a month away from the release of Keith Urban's new album, Get Closer, the full track listing has a few people up in arms judging by some of the e-mails I have received recently. Some fans are not pleased about being forced to buy the new disc at Target stores. No one is being literally forced, of course, but what do you do when an artist releases a new album with only 8 tracks and then offers a "deluxe" 11-track version exclusively through Target? I have to say, I see their point and agree it seems kind of, well, silly. And I'm not even going to comment on the irony of one of the extra tracks being titled 'Big Promises.'

In an interview with Billboard, Keith even admitted that non-Target cutomers aren't getting a complete album. He said: "In some ways it's all just one record, but one is a shorter version while the Target version is the full album. If people get the shorter version and love it, maybe they'll want to hear some more songs."

But back to the actual music. As Nashville Country Club reported, for Keith, this album is the logical follow-up to his previous record. He said:


"On Defying Gravity I started touching upon the theme of the courage to love. It’s all well and good to say, 'I can’t find anybody to love, I wish I could find someone to love.' But do I have the courage to love? Am I willing to open my heart and give the sword to my partner and go, 'All right, I trust you, absolutely and completely?' For me the title is multi-faceted because my instincts have always been to run from the things that are good for me, to run from love. I have always run from intimacy, and marriage has been a real awakening for me in looking at that very differently. That’s what the title refers to."


Sounds to me like plenty of inspiration for some good, honest songs!
